Looking into the future the Pelican feeding its young from a self-induced wound in its own
breast (as depicted, mysteriously, on the state flag of Louisiana) is accepted as an
appropriate symbol of both self-sacrifice and rebirth. Through his selfless efforts, man is
raised from the slavery of ignorance to the condition of freedom conferred by wisdom.
Given the current state of affairs in Louisiana, one hopes that the understanding of the Pelican
as a symbol shall point the way towards a new consciousness of ourselves as a whole, and lead us
to face our futures with strength, grace, wisdom and faith, to learn from our mistakes and carry
our successes and zest for living to future generations.
Letter To Louisiana Public Service Commissioners
Re: Rate-setters Look At Rules For Possible Nuclear Plant
- Date: March 25, 2007
- To: Louisiana Public Service Commissioners
- c/o: Foster Campbell thru administrative aide Bill Robertson
Dear Commissioners,
It is with deep regret and horror that I read in the
March 22, 2007 Times Picayune that Entergy is appearing before you, requesting special economic favors to build another nuclear power plant in Louisiana. I as executive attorney for Save Our Wetlands Inc.(SOWL) am extremely knowledgeable about the lies of the nuclear industry and the Federal government it funds.
In 1970, I appeared before the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission(AEC) on behalf of intervenor Robert Head on Louisiana Power & Light(LP&L)'s application for a construction permit to build their
Waterford III Nuclear Power Plant in Taft, La. just 15 miles upriver from New Orleans.
Later in the 1980's, I appeared before the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission(NRC) on behalf of intervenors Oystershell Alliance, SOWL, and Gary Groesch's Alliance for Affordable Energy, concerning Entergy's Waterford III operation permit.
The reason the Atomic Energy Comission(AEC) changed their name to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission(NRC) is because it became national news that the Feds AEC was not regulating nuclear power, but was a puppet promoting tool of the "Nuke" industry. Changing AEC to NRC is the type of games they play.
During this time, I also acted as attorney for dying cancer patient
Ellis Gaspard and Atomic Veterans, who were marched into nuclear explosions in the Nevada desert by the AEC. We discovered documents exposing the AEC purposedly concealed damaging information to our American Veterans, and used these veterans as guinea pig "experiments" upon our American grunt soldiers.
Most recently, I have represented returning American Veterans from both the Gulf Persian war and now Iraq Afghanistan contaminated with the nuclear industry's
Depleted Uranium(DU).
My experience with the nuclear industry is they are a pack of corporate welfare liars heaping their forever radioactive waste upon us and future generations.
Why subsidize their folly any longer. Louisiana has lots of sunshine. The cleanest and best
future energy is solar. It's as simple as that.
Below are some articles for your review. I urge you to probe and investigate Entergy's requests to build more of their death technology in our state. There is no way you should permit Entergy to charge consumers in advance for their nuclear dream nightmare. Remember, in case of a nuclear core meltdown, the nuclear industry has obtained exemptions from their corporate controlled Congress to adequately cover Louisiana citizens with proper insurance.
- Nuclear Power Not Clean, Green or Safe - Caldicott points out there are truly green and clean alternative energy sources to nuclear power. She refers to the American plains as “the Saudi Arabia of wind,” where readily available rural land in just several Dakota countires “could produce twice the amount of electricity that the United States currently consumes.”
- The Nuclear Phoenix - Having a close working relationship with the nuclear industry well before taking office the Bush administration is pushing ahead with a full-scale revival of atomic power.
If I can be of any further assistance, I am available. You can contact the Union of Concerned Scientists to testify before your Commission, not only about safety factors but also economic consequences from building a new nuclear power plant in Louisiana.
- Sincerely yours,
- Executive Attorney

This is pursuant to previous email of March 25, 2007 concerning opposition by Save Our Wetlands Inc.(SOWL) and Save Louisiana Wetlands Inc. on Entergy's outrageous, absurd, reckless, and dangerous proposal to build a new nuclear power plant in Louisiana, and charge consumers in advance of construction.
