  1. Old Town Slidell & the Results of a 6-8 foot Storm Surge - Slidell used to have 5,200 acres of a vast wetland estuary buffering hurricane tidal surges. Thanks to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and politically connected land developers such as St. Tammany Parish Council President Kevin Davis. Slidell now has the Eden Isles Oak Harbor and Lakeshore Estate subdivisions piled up with tons and tons and tons of hurricane Katrina flood damaged property.
  2. Destruction of Eden Isles Subdivision Caused by Hurricane Katrina - “When I was a young boy, this tract was full of wild ducks and poule d’eau. In the fall, the Mire Brothers (JuJu, Jimmy and Tommy Mire) and I would ride our ponies (Little Joe and Dan) to the end of Howze Beach Road to watch thousands of wild migrating Dos-gris, teal, pintails, land into Grand Lagoon. It was beautiful and spectacular.”
  3. Images of the Destruction in Slidell, LA. off of Hwy 433 - Below are pictures of the far back eastern part of Oak Harbor Subdivision off of Highway 433, Old Spanish Trail, Slidell, La. These were taken a month after hurricane Katrina roared through. SOWL has litigated in the past against the developement of this subdivision which is smack dab in the middle of a hurricane tidal surge pathway.
  4. Plaquemines Parish Devastated - Save Our Wetlands (SOWL) joined with Plaquemines Parish & St. Bernard Parish residents to force the Corps to fill in the destructive expanding Mississippi River Gulf Outlet(MRGO). The Corps refused. The Corps won again. Unfortunately, the poor residents of St. Bernard, Plaquemines Parish and the 9th ward residents of Orleans Parish lost.
